La Finale: Missed Opportunities Cost Inter in Champions League Final

Mina Rzouki & Nicky Bandini review the 2022-23 Champions League Final between Inter and Manchester City and consider the big questions arising from the nerazzurri's narrow defeat:

  • Did they blow their chance for an upset victory?
  • Can Simone Inzaghi's Inter squad get back to another final with these players?
  • What does the immediate future hold for the club from a player and financial perspective?
  • What did we make of the missed goal opportunities by Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku?

We discuss Serie A's relegation playout match between Spezia and Verona which saw drama, a send-off, a missed penalty, amazing goalkeeping as well as plenty of goals, as the gialloblu survive for another season in the top flight and sent Spezia down to Serie B.

Claudio Ranieri's Cagliari found a stoppage time winner in their Serie B promotion playoff against Bari in incredible scenes which had everyone's favourite gentleman of calcio in floods of tears, after he pulled off a miracle, returning in January to the club he first managed in 1988 and dragging the team up from 14th place to earn promotion to Serie A for the Sardinians.

Italy Under 20s lost their World Cup Final to Uruguay.

And we pay to tribute to Silvio Berlusconi who died shortly prior to our recording of this episode.
