The Qatar Question: Why We Feel Conflicted About The 2022 World Cup

This first of our World Cup 2022 episodes is a very special one in which you'll get to know Mina Rzouki and Nicky Bandini like you never have before.

Their perspectives on the Qatar World Cup and the troubled nature of the tournament being held there, with the country's discriminatory laws against LGBT+ people, its treatment of migrant workers and, of course, the many thousands of migrant worker deaths in the 12 years of preparation for the tournament.

Mina and Nicky also talk about their memories of their experiences growing up supporting Italy in the World Cup. You will recognise yourself and your own family in their memories of family, heartbreak and celebration, as they describe where they were, who they were with and how they felt at various World Cup moments.

Add to the mix their favourite World Cup songs and commentary (cue Caressa!), as well as their thoughts on who might win the tournament, dark horses, and the England team: will they "England it up"?

Then we close with the legendary 2006 Italy World Cup squad singing their tournament anthem, "Cuore Azzurro".
