[00:01:31] Hello to all our Serie A chronicles, a Patreon T-Force. This is Patrick Kendrick

[00:01:39] taking you through the first semi final first leg between Juventus and

[00:01:44] Lazio which was played on Tuesday. We barely caught our breath from the end of

[00:01:47] round 30. Let's do forget there were five games on Easter Monday to round off

[00:01:52] the football over the course of the Easter weekend in the Italian top flight.

[00:01:57] And we will straight back into it with the Coppa Italia. Juventus 14 times winners,

[00:02:03] record holders indeed in terms of the number of victories in the Italian domestic

[00:02:07] cup up against Lazio and a weird quirk of the fixture list much like Juventus had

[00:02:12] in the round of 16 where they played first against Selenietana in the Coppa Italia,

[00:02:16] thrashed them 6-1 then a few short days later. They ended up beating Selenietana

[00:02:21] late on at the Arreiki. This time around it was the other way around.

[00:02:25] Namely Juventus played against Lazio in the league on Easter Saturday and then three

[00:02:29] days on on the Tuesday they're up against the Bianco Celeste in the Cup. And unlike

[00:02:34] the Selenietana games where Juventus won both, they came into this tie against

[00:02:38] Lazio on the back of a 1-0 loss, had a matter of scoring in the last minute on

[00:02:43] the Easter Saturday to pile on the misery in for the Bianco and Edian and for

[00:02:48] Massimo Liano Allegri in particular. But if there's one thing we know about Allegri

[00:02:51] it's the fact that he has a real affinity with the Coppa Italia. He won it four times

[00:02:57] in his many years with Juventus during his first spell, four league and cup doubles

[00:03:02] in five seasons. And he also took Juventus into the domestic cup final in his first

[00:03:08] year of his second stint. We're now into year three of Allegri Mark II. Last season

[00:03:14] he was knocked out in a two-legged semi-finals by the eventual winners. Into the

[00:03:17] previous year Juventus were beaten by Inter after extra time in Rome so he has

[00:03:22] consistently performed in this competition. And it appears after a 2-0 first leg win

[00:03:27] over Lazio that Juventus are again going to be involved in yet another Coppa Italia final

[00:03:33] unless there's going to be a huge turnaround from Lazio three weeks from now. What

[00:03:38] was so different just three days on compared with what we saw on Saturday will

[00:03:42] first and foremost Juventus were bolstered by the return of Duchamp Vláhović. He

[00:03:46] was suspended for the league game. Juventus really missed him but he did play and how well

[00:03:51] he played against Lazio getting the all-important second goal. A lovely finish. McKenny feeding

[00:03:56] the ball through to him with the outside of his boot. And Vláhović just seemed to be

[00:03:59] at his best when he has that instinctive ability to finish a couple of step overs could

[00:04:04] have gone either side eventually shifted it onto his favorite left and bent it round

[00:04:08] Roman Joli into the corner. That was the second goal that came on the

[00:04:11] Almarth the opener came five minutes into the second half Fédérica Ciesa exploiting

[00:04:16] lots of space. That's where Ciesa can be so devastating. We saw it when he was at the

[00:04:20] peak of his powers with Italy in the summer of 2021, Euro 2020 when he was cutting in from

[00:04:27] the left wing when Italy were playing a lot in transition as well. And Lazio was still

[00:04:32] getting to grips with what Igor Tudor is asking of them afforded far too much time and space.

[00:04:38] He had to come to Campeozo when stepping out of defense he was able to feed through a

[00:04:42] 50 yard through ball and whilst the weight on the pass was right and it was a very good

[00:04:47] ball he had the vision to spot Ciesa. There was still a huge margin for error there was big

[00:04:53] room for maneuver here for Campeozo in terms of being able to play the ball into the

[00:04:57] path of Ciesa and Ciesa from there was never likely to miss. He's also a player who tends

[00:05:02] to thrive in the Coppa Italia. He has a great record in this competition who can forget

[00:05:06] when he and Dejan Kulesiewski got on the score sheet when Juventus beat Atalanta in

[00:05:12] Reggio Emilia. Indeed that is their most recent piece of silverware of memory serves. That

[00:05:16] was Andrea Piedlo in charge on that occasion the same year that Juventus also won the Super

[00:05:21] Coppa Italia in Reggio Emilia at Mappe Stadium. That was when they hosted a couple of domestic

[00:05:27] finals. Does that mean that Allegri is out of the woods? He's no longer under pressure.

[00:05:31] Does that mean that Juventus secured and they're going to suddenly bounce back this coming

[00:05:35] weekend in their game against Fiorentina? No. I would suggest we still don't know enough

[00:05:42] about Juventus' long-term credentials, but what it does show is as we saw for large

[00:05:47] suede of the season if Allegri can pick his strongest 11. If his big players are given

[00:05:52] the opportunity to score goals they will take those chances. We saw it with Ciesa. We saw

[00:05:57] it with Vlauvich when they play together and Juventus have that defensive solidity unless

[00:06:01] we forget there was another clean sheet yesterday. That is when they can overperform. That

[00:06:06] is where they can overachieve and that's what allowed them to be genuine contenders for

[00:06:10] this good eto right up until the end of January and heading into the first few days of February.

[00:06:16] If one of those two elements goes awry, if they start to concede they can't necessarily

[00:06:20] score the way out of trouble. If Vlauvich or Ciesa have an off night and unfortunately

[00:06:24] there have been plenty of those or one of them is missing, Cies are often through injury.

[00:06:28] Lauvich frequently as well with niggles but also through suspension then that's when

[00:06:32] Juventus can be caught out. Lacia is still getting to grips with what two door once and

[00:06:37] then they didn't have that vocal guttural support from the stadioleampico that they benefited

[00:06:41] from on the east of Saturday in his first game in charge and Lacia now have the Rome

[00:06:46] Derby coming up in the league, but this was a big opportunity for Lacia to lift silver

[00:06:51] where the other side of the draw sees Fjurentina against Atalanta. That game is coming on later

[00:06:56] tonight. We're recording on Wednesday, lunchtime, Nicki Bandini will take you through all of

[00:07:00] the events in that particular time but it does look like Juventus have put one foot

[00:07:05] into the final of their Cop Italia yet another final and if they were to go to Rome regardless

[00:07:11] of whether they played Atalanta or Fjurentina based on history and prestige and Cout alone

[00:07:17] you would think Juventus will probably be marginal favorites to win their 15th Coppa Italia.
