[00:01:49] tricky game against Udinezi because they actually went a goal behind Patrick

[00:01:54] you were commenting on this particular match and I was I was I was listening as

[00:01:59] as you were talking about the mix-up that led to Udinezi's first goal

[00:02:05] obviously into then get a penalty and then Fretese comes in with one of his

[00:02:10] glorious abilities to score a tap in at the end of the game to seal the win and

[00:02:16] then set up this perfect narrative that they go to the Jaby and potentially win

[00:02:21] the second star the Scudetto at San Siro in the against Milan and Patrick two

[00:02:29] yellow cards for Lauter Martinez and Pavard so that they would miss Cagliari

[00:02:34] so that they are all available for Milan as well so a little bit of a

[00:02:39] marino style tactics there too from Inter and what do you think I mean I don't

[00:02:45] want to say do you think they're gonna beat Milan but well it's a tricky one

[00:02:48] it's interesting actually because when I saw those two yellow cards and they

[00:02:51] were both late on it was still one also there was a hint of desperation about

[00:02:54] Inter because had they drawn then everything would have been shelved in

[00:02:58] terms of those plans but you know Pavard and Lauter there were both

[00:03:02] quite cynical challenges so I'm not sure whether it was a deliberate yellow card

[00:03:06] or not I feel like if you are trying to get to get book you do it much earlier

[00:03:09] in the game and then you know the suspension is done and it was it's

[00:03:13] always a very difficult sort of balancing out there when you're broadcasting

[00:03:18] as to whether to allude to that without you know outright accusing the

[00:03:22] players of cynicism or even cheating basically I guess it's not

[00:03:26] cheating is it it's being cynical but anyway coming to the to the main

[00:03:30] story itself I think it's a strange one because if you think about it the last

[00:03:36] time Inter won the Scudetto under Antonio Conte the Scudetto was sealed with

[00:03:41] the with a game at the Mappe Stadium in Reggio Emilia as Atalanta failing to

[00:03:45] beat Sassuolo and Inter were champions without playing Milan go to

[00:03:49] Reggio Emilia next which is the ground where they won the Scudetto two

[00:03:52] years ago and if Milan were to lose to Sassuolo and then Inter beat

[00:03:57] Calioli later that day we might even have Inter as being champions before the

[00:04:01] Derby it's unexpected but Sassuolo Milan's bogey team Sassuolo are

[00:04:06] scrapping for their lives and we saw last night with Udinese in a relegation

[00:04:10] battle just how awkward these fixtures can be I think I've been hearing a lot

[00:04:13] of talk about how easy I know we'll get to Atalanta later on but there's

[00:04:17] been a lot of talk about how easy Atalanta is running is because they're

[00:04:20] playing X, Y and Z but what you find is unless you find unless you're up

[00:04:23] against those teams that are in mid table there's a very small band of

[00:04:26] mid table teams at the moment maybe only Genoa, Monsa and Serino unless

[00:04:30] you're playing those everyone else has something tangible to play for so I

[00:04:33] think that Inter's home game against Calioli won't be a formality

[00:04:36] especially with Calioli having beaten Atalanta but it was great to see

[00:04:40] again because Fratesi got his first Inter goal in the Derby that came

[00:04:43] in added time he was the one who scored the winning goal against

[00:04:46] Verona on Epiphany so that was Inter's first league game of 2024 they

[00:04:51] won 10 in a row from there they've only dropped two points that

[00:04:53] came in Snappily and it looked like they were going to drop more points

[00:04:56] and what I loved was just the outpouring of emotion and the reaction

[00:04:59] to this goal it felt like that they had done the hardest bit.

[00:05:04] Onaltavic back for Alexis Sanchez Lautaro Martínez and Salli for Fratesi

[00:05:12] just like in January against Verona Davide Fratesi comes up with a

[00:05:18] match winning moment and Inter are now within two wins of the

[00:05:22] game. I think they believe it will be a formality they'll beat Calioli

[00:05:26] and then they'll back themselves to beat Milan in yet another Derby

[00:05:29] having won five from five in 2023.

[00:05:33] I felt the reaction to it was really interesting because I do

[00:05:36] think that as journalists we've been guilty and I think I've

[00:05:42] been guilty of looking at this title and sort of treating it for a

[00:05:45] while as a foregone conclusion because they've been so far in

[00:05:47] front and I do think it's a foregone conclusion I do think

[00:05:50] they're going to win. But I think that in some ways as viewers

[00:05:55] and as journalists we can allow that to almost downgrade it in

[00:05:59] some way our minds like I said, you know, it's not a big deal

[00:06:01] because they've been doing it for such a long time. And I

[00:06:04] think that celebration was a very vivid visual reminder that

[00:06:08] they've worked really bloody hard for it. Like it's not

[00:06:11] like the fact that they've made it look easy doesn't mean

[00:06:13] that it's easy. The fact that they've made it look easy

[00:06:15] just as a reflection of how good they've been. And the fact

[00:06:19] that it's not perhaps the season that we believe they could

[00:06:22] have where they could have gone far in the Champions League as

[00:06:23] well doesn't make it actually less of a deal for them to win

[00:06:27] semi-facus most of those players will win league titles either

[00:06:31] for some it will be the first time they've ever won one for some

[00:06:33] it will be one of a very small handful of league titles they

[00:06:36] will in their career. Of course, there's always something

[00:06:38] bigger right there's always the World Cup there's always

[00:06:40] the Champions League but but there is a limited window you

[00:06:44] have as a professional footballer to win big European domestic

[00:06:47] league titles and these players have really earned it. So it was

[00:06:50] a really it was a great celebration as Patrick says I do

[00:06:54] need Fattesey to do this for Italy in the summer need him to

[00:06:57] be that that super last minute game winner for us just just

[00:07:01] putting that on record now but yeah, it was a it was a

[00:07:06] fellow another well deserved moment of celebration for

[00:07:09] Inter they've they've been better than this this season

[00:07:12] this wasn't their best ever performance but that willingness

[00:07:14] to go to the end of games has been one of their their

[00:07:17] traits domestically at least.

[00:10:24] but it's just like we knew the one

[00:10:26] And someone made a very good comparison last

[00:10:29] he last night to me on Twitter said it felt

[00:10:31] like Raspidore's added time volley against

[00:10:33] Juventus when it was the sort of final hurdle

[00:10:36] that overcome for Napoli last last season.

[00:10:38] But what it reminded me of a bit last night

[00:10:40] was how different into our inter-ar to two years ago,

[00:10:43] because that summer mistake is not dissimilar

[00:10:46] really to the Radu mistake at Bologna.

[00:11:09] And you think after all the brilliance,

[00:11:11] after you've been almost flawless throughout this season

[00:11:14] to not be able to win the title with five

[00:11:16] against a spare against your great rivals,

[00:11:18] who you're trying to get to 20 titles ahead of

[00:11:20] because of one shocking moment like that

[00:11:23] just would have felt very unfair.

[00:11:24] So I think it inter almost deserved

[00:11:26] to go on and get that winner.

[00:11:27] And for that he just shows that

[00:11:29] he seems to have a knack for knowing where the ball drops

[00:11:32] because that was his fourth attempt of the match.

[00:11:34] And eventually it was one couldn't really miss.

[00:11:37] I had this stat that I was going to bring in

[00:11:39] and now after the scenes,

[00:11:40] they asked me to make me sort of laugh at it

[00:11:42] because I was thinking

[00:11:45] talking about the end of games and Inter being the final

[00:11:47] I feel in a team really this season

[00:11:48] being what the event is always wanted to find themselves as

[00:11:53] last 15 minutes of Serie A games

[00:11:55] into her outscored opponents, 18 goals to one.

[00:11:58] So if you just play the last 15 minutes, 18 goals to one.

[00:12:00] And that's a pretty astonishing statistic, right?

[00:12:02] No one else is close to that.

[00:12:03] The thing is though, because it's Inter

[00:12:04] you could pick a different time in the game.

[00:12:06] We go first 15 minutes,

[00:12:07] what they've outscored opponents

[00:12:08] 10 to 0 in the first 15 minutes.

[00:12:09] So actually they're just outscoring everyone

[00:12:11] all the time is the point really isn't it?

[00:12:13] Yeah, dare I say it.

[00:12:15] I don't think statistics

[00:12:17] they don't discriminate with added time.

[00:12:19] So there were seven minutes of added time in the last night.

[00:12:22] Actually, seven awarded.

[00:12:23] They eventually played nine.

[00:12:24] So if you think about it,

[00:12:25] that last window is always just like the window

[00:12:27] going into halftime.

[00:12:28] But typically you'd only get two or three minutes max

[00:12:30] at halftime was ever since the Qatar World Cup.

[00:12:34] I feel like we're getting five or six minutes minimum to be honest.

[00:12:38] I just want a second to say that

[00:12:41] I wrote a piece because

[00:12:43] in Zaghi's being linked to some big jobs

[00:12:45] and I was going through some of the

[00:12:47] my research on in Zaghi over the years

[00:12:50] and on April 4th,

[00:12:53] so on the 1st of April last year,

[00:12:55] they lost a Fiorentina Inter

[00:12:57] and Gazette de la Sport at the time had written

[00:13:01] it would be ludicrous to imagine that in Zaghi

[00:13:03] would still keep his job at the end of the season.

[00:13:06] And unless he wins the Champions League

[00:13:08] and that would be utopian.

[00:13:10] And it was it's incredible to see how one year later

[00:13:13] the Man-Raised Champions League final is winning the Scudetto

[00:13:16] and he is finally being recognised for the

[00:13:18] for the brilliant tactician that he has been

[00:13:21] not just at Inter but at Lazio.

[00:13:22] So you know how we were all a little bit happy for Saddi

[00:13:24] when he was winning at Juventus

[00:13:26] because he deserved it.

[00:13:27] He deserved to lift the Scudetto

[00:13:29] Zaghi deserved to win it.

[00:13:31] I think this is in Zaghi's moment

[00:13:32] and he really deserves to be up there

[00:13:35] to get the plaudits.

[00:13:36] And I feel like he's been fighting the shadow of Antonio Conte

[00:13:39] for so long after he arrived

[00:13:41] and then it was your team wasn't performing.

[00:13:43] And you know, we look at this team

[00:13:45] and I'm still not convinced

[00:13:46] that they're all superstars by the way.

[00:13:48] I think there are a lot of many good players

[00:13:49] but I look at Mekaterian

[00:13:50] and I think that you made this guy

[00:13:52] is such a brilliant force

[00:13:54] and you've made so many others

[00:13:55] and you've addressed a lot of the weaknesses

[00:13:58] that people have accused you of before.

[00:14:00] So congratulations to him.
